“King Henry VIII. Had Six Wives. Created
controversy about divorce. Died quite a lonely and a large
man”
Not the best story by any means. And it certainly wouldn't
make for the best conversation. There are a few facts in
there, but it’s not very entertaining in conversation
- and that is the purpose of story-telling - to entertain,
and where appropriate, to inform.
A good story-teller can often be the soul of a party and
conversation, adding to the enjoyment of everyone else. Anyone
young or old has the makings of a very proficient story-teller
and conversationalist for that matter. And story-telling
is an incredible skill to acquire because the power of a
good story can help persuade, sell, or simply amuse. Three
things which are very useful in conversation.
People the world over have harnessed the power of stories
in conversation and became extremely successful as a result,
(yes, thanks to conversation!) whether they were businessmen,
salesmen, executives, teachers… in fact in any field
you care to think of. Yep, Conversation is a useful key.
